sculpted jewelryI use the term “sculpted jewelry” because the process of making jewelry is an extension of my former work as a sculptor, and to me it's all sculpture. Whether I am sculpting on a large scale, or creating jewelry sculpture it is all the same creative process, just on a different scale.

I am a self-taught (autodidact) sculptor who has worked as an assistant for various artists. I have also worked as a consultant and have been commissioned by other artists and galleries to create, facilitate and document exhibits and shows.

Knowledge of materials (silver, slate) and craftsmanship are important ingredients in my jewelry making. Support of established silversmiths, independent study, and attending some small silversmith classes enabled me to advance successfully in my physical work with silver and slate.

irtually anything gives me impulses for new creative work, but the language of shapes inspires me deeply. I translate this language of shapes through my body, soul, craftsmanship and material knowledge.
I go through a great deal of mental processing in creating shapes and relations (designs, sketches) before I begin physical work on a piece. Both the mental and physical phases of creativity hold their own fascination for me, and each phase complements each other in excellent ways.

be well, enjoy life
